Schedule for 2013

May 15, 2013: "Dorothy O'Connor - Speaking of Photography"

Dorothy O'Connor is a photo-based installation artist living in Atlanta. Her fantastical, life-sized installations, which include a live model performance in the style of a tableau vivant, have been featured during Atlanta Celebrates Photography and FLUX Night. Her latest tableau is currently installed at the Cheekwood Botanical Garden and Art Museum in Nashville, and her work is represented by Nashville's Tinney Contemporary Gallery. She will be discussing the craft, inspiration, and history of her "Scenes" body of work.

April 17, 2013: "Chip Simone in Black and White"

Chip Simone is a long-time member of the Atlanta arts community and well known to members of APG for the popular critiques that he conducts each month at the APG gallery. This month he will present a survey of his black and white photography. The survey will reach back more than four decades to work that has served as the foundation of Chip’s continuously evolving and endlessly curious vision.

March 20, 2013: "Speaking of Photography with Matt Haffner "

Matt is a multi-media artist, based in Atlanta, whose photo-derivative works have been exhibited nationally and internationally. He is represented through White Space Gallery in Atlanta and Pentimenti Gallery in Philadelphia. His paintings, drawings, installations and video pieces have been exhibited widely in museums, public spaces and commercial galleries around the world.

February 20, 2013: "Speaking of Photography with Beth Lilly "

And in anticipation of APG's forthcoming Call for Entry, Beth Lilly will introduce The Concepts Show: A Post-Apocalyptic Photo Challenge. She will share her ideas and direction for the show with intention of inspiring photographers to think outside the box (the fuse box that is!)

January 16, 2013: "Social Media for Photographers"

An introductory social media class for photographers. This class will discuss the basics of Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn and how to get the most out of these social networks. Whether you are just getting started with social media or have insight to share, join Board Member Maria Joyner and Andrew Feiler on Wednesday, January 16th for this informative Speaking of Photography.
