By focusing on t he psychological lives of her subjects\, she has worked on a series of vis ual stories that contemplate familial relationships and convey ideas about people and place within the cultural landscape.\n\nHer seminal project\, Between Girls\, articulates the coming of age of a group of urban middle c lass teenagers\, following them from high school into adulthood 30 years l ater.\n\nThe book of Between Girls was published by Kehrer Verlag in 2021. \n\nIn her documentary journey Marshall also has witnessed the struggling identity of a group of Navajo Indians and the demise of their earth-based culture in Caretakers of the Earth: Navajo Resistance and Relocation. She often directs her camera at family life\, including her Pennsylvania Dutch in-laws’ clan in a series titled Pennsylvania In-Laws. In Still\, Stand ing\, a series begun in 2013\, she explores the Polish landscape that her grandparents left behind when they emigrated to the United States in the e arly 1920's.\n\nMarshall is the recipient of artist fellowships and sponso rships through the New York Foundation for the Arts\, as well as grants an d support from private foundations. Taught by artist Chip Standifer\, this course demys tifies the darkroom process and gives participants the confidence to devel op black and white film on their own.\n\nThe workshop is structured as thr ee hours in the morning and two hours in the afternoon\, with a break for lunch. In the morning session\, participants will cover the fundamentals o f black and white film\, including exposure considerations\, film types\, chemistry\, equipment\, and darkroom workflow. Chip will walk through each step of the development process\, explaining not just how to do it\, but why each step matters.\n\nAfter lunch\, participants will put theory into practice by developing their own first roll of black and white film. The a fternoon session focuses on hands-on learning\, troubleshooting common iss ues\, and best practices for consistency and archival results. Inthis Intro To Darkroom class\, you’ll be given the too ls to immortalize your images on silver gelatin paper through the classica l means of black and white photographic development.\n\nStudents will expl ore the relationship between their film and paper of choice\, various chem istry\, contrast filters\, and proper darkroom etiquette. This course will be a hands on an immersive experience for beginners and returning analogu e printers alike. Once complete\, students will have a fundamental underst anding of darkroom printing concepts as well as how to see and understand print worthy images before raising their camera to expose their film.\n\nC hemistry will be provided.\n\nEach student should bring their own black an d white negatives and photosensitive paper to print with.\n\nClass will be limited to six students.\n\nINSTRUCTOR: Quintavious Oliver\n\nQuintavius Oliver (b. 1989 Atlanta\, Ga.) is an Atlanta based fine art and documentar y photographer who uses his engaging and intimate portraits as a means for dynamic storytelling. Acquiring his first camera at the age of six from h is grandmother\, he immediately began to document his ever-expanding world . By his mid-20s the self-taught colorblind photographer was making waves in the photography community\, landing exhibitions at the Museum of Contem porary Art in Atlanta and the Griffin Museum in Winchester\, MA - all whil e raising his daughter as a full-time single father. Quintavius spent much of his early career straddling the fence between his documentary-style ph otography in the streets of Atlanta and making intimate portraits with fri ends\, exploring sexuality\, fear\, joy\, and identity. His work would eve ntually expand to places like India and Cuba where he would explore life i n the homes of individuals and families\, fostering a sense of global comm unity through photography. Those photographs have since been awarded 1st p lace in the 2025 International Photography Awards in Greece\, exhibitions at The Art Gallery of Alberta\, Canada\, and even the permanent collection s of The Museum of Contemporary Art\, Houston TX and the Museum of Contemp orary Art\, Ga. These often include newspaper\, spray paint\, cardboard\, salvaged street signs\, whe at paste\, and industrial pencils combined with photographs which give his pieces a frenzied\, chaotic feel and show his roots as a street artist. L arge-scale site-specific installations and smaller works on paper examine the artist’s memories of growing up in the urban Midwest. These personal narratives are woven together with mythologies and folklore to illuminate surreal and otherworldly experiences.\nHaffner’s works are in a variety of public and private regional\, national\, and international collections . He has won countless awards\, residencies\, and grants in support of his work\, including a National Endowment for the Arts Project Award\, Hambid ge Center for the Arts and Sciences\, MOCA Georgia’s prestigious Working Artist Award\, and a Forward Arts Foundation Award. Lilly earned an MFA in Photography from Georgia State Univ ersity and an A.B.J. in Telecommunication Arts from the University of Geor gia. Her work resides in the permanent collections of the High Museum\, th e New Mexico Museum of Art\, The Ogden Museum of Southern Art\, MOCA GA\, the Zuckerman Museum and many other institutional and private collections. Her critically acclaimed performance/interactive project “The Oracle @ WiFi” was published by Kehrer Verlag and other projects have been featur ed in monographs ‘Noplaceness: Art in a Post-Urban Landscape’ and ‘E arth Now: American Landscape Photographers and the Environment’. Her wor k has been reproduced and reviewed in such publications as Blind Magazine\ , F-Stop Magazine\, Lensculture\, Art Papers\, Papermag\, Burnaway\, The B itter Southerner\, Atlanta Magazine and ArtsATL.
