Portrait 2025

Juror:
Bree Lamb

Co-Managing Editor, Fraction Magazine and
Associate Professor of Photography at
New Mexico State University

We invite photographers from around the world to submit their most compelling and thought-provoking works for our upcoming exhibition, Portrait 2025. This exhibition seeks to celebrate the timeless art of portraiture and the profound stories that can be conveyed through the human figure. We are looking for images which explore the intricate and intimate connections that bind us as human beings. Through the lens of portraiture, this exhibition aims to unveil the unique narratives that are etched onto each individual’s face and body. The human form, whether presented in its unadorned simplicity or adorned with personal symbolism, serves as a canvas for emotions, experiences, and stories that transcend cultural boundaries.

Themes include but are not limited to:

  • Identity and self-expression
  • Emotion and psychology
  • Cultural diversity
  • Narrative portraiture

APG is thrilled to have Bree Lamb, Co-Managing Editor, Fraction Magazine and Associate Professor of Photography at New Mexico State University as our esteemed juror.

The total print (paper) size for selected artwork will be limited to 24” on the longest side, or less, but no framing or matting will be required. These prints will be installed using magnets. We can also recommend a local printing service, if that is needed.

Fraction Magazine

Fraction Magazine is an online venue dedicated to showcasing thoughtful photographic projects from a global community. They believe that photography, as a perpetually growing set of practices, continues to present a unique medium through which individuals engage with the world by making visible their positions and concerns, their pleasures and sorrows. From their inception, their monthly issues have provided a venue for perspectives and bodies of work from artists from a wide range of cultural and ethnic backgrounds, gender and sexual expressions, religious beliefs, socioeconomic statuses, and geographical locations. Fraction is committed to being anti-racist and to broadening the historically narrow and privileged perspectives that have long dominated photographic discourse through layers of institutional filters. They pledge to share their platform with and provide ongoing collaborative opportunities for BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and Womxn artists, curators and writers, and those bringing perspectives that are under-represented in photography. They are committed to exploring photography with our growing community, as a means to understanding, and through understanding, compassion, and advocacy.
