Portfolio Review Prep

Portfolio reviews are a fantastic way to introduce your work to art professionals who can offer opportunities, guidance and amazing insights into your work. But let’s face it – they take a lot of time and money to participate. APG’s popular Portfolio Review Preparation workshop is designed for artists who are new to reviews who want to get the most out of the event. This workshop will include how to present your work and yourself in online reviews.

Just the process of preparing for reviews can accelerate your development as an artist and helps focus you on completing work, as well as gaining insight on what your work is about. The discipline of talking about your work again and again with people who really understand art-making, will assist you in having the best discussions ever about your work. And that’s just part of the experience. A review event can be the starting place for some of the best relationships you’ll find in your art career. Meet and share work with other artists, network, connect, and learn so much about where you and your work fit into the national stage.

We’ve timed the class to prepare you for PhotoNOLA. A review event in New Orleans in Dec 2020, an excellent choice for the first-time reviewee. It is possible this event will be cancelled, held online or changed, we are working toward that in mind to make this class a fantastic experience. However, you can also use the class to prepare for other portfolio reviews such as Fotofest, Review Santa Fe and Filter Photo Festival or to fast track the launch of a new body of work.

If PhotoNola takes place as usual, join Beth Lilly and Judith Pishnery at PhotoNOLA, where they will be on hand to coach students. Otherwise, we will work something out. Students must register for PhotoNOLA on their own – registration for the event begins Sept (TBD). Registration and travel fees are not included in the prep class tuition.  APG is not affiliated with PhotoNOLA.
