Workshop: Weekend Lighting Workshop

Learn to harness light to reveal the essence of your subject and explore lighting stylistically from editorial to as fine art. In this workshop, you will take your first steps in developing a personal style and help you with advancing your photography to the next level. Attendees learn simple to advanced lighting concepts both in studio and in various out-of-studio environments. In this class we will be using people as the primary subject. However, the techniques being are universal and can be employed to light a wide variety of subject matter. Utilizing natural light and off camera lighting techniques to pursue innovative strategies for light placement, modification and lighting ratios, you’ll be creating amazing images in no time.

Instructor’s Bio – Raised on the shores of Long Island, New York, Kemachat has witnessed first-hand the devastating results of hurricanes that have increasingly strengthened by climate change. With a passion for eco-socialism, the environment, and a deep sense of empathy for communities that have been adversely affected by climate change, Kemachat has traveled for the last two years and continues to work on “What May Come,” and has produced a series of images that captures your visual attention while informing about complex social-ecological issues. Kemachat Sirichanvimol received his Master of Fine Arts from the Savannah College of Art and Design. He had his first solo exhibition in April of 2019 at the Garcia | Wilburn Gallery of Atlanta and has exhibited at The Center for Fine Art Photography in Colorado, Midwest Center for Photography in Kansas, Atlanta Photo Group, and at the Savannah College of Art and Design in connection to the “Atlanta Celebrates Photography Festival” in 2017 and 2018. For his work on the series “What May Come,” Kemachat has also received Honorable Mention by International Photo Award | Lucie Foundation and the London International Creative Competition, Silver Award by The Prix de la Photographie, Paris, and Emerging Photographers to Watch by the London International Creative Competition. As a professional artist, environmental awareness, conservation, and social advocacy continue to be a core focus of Kemachat’s work.

Workshop Date: March 18, 19, & 20, 2022 (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
Time: Fri. March 18 6-9PM, Sat. March 19 10AM-5PM & Sun. March 20 10AM-3PM
(There will be a 1 hour lunch break on Saturday and Sunday. Restaurant suggestions will be provided depending on the shooting location, but participants will be responsible for their own lunch.)

Enrollment Limit: Minimum – 4,  Maximum – 12
Workshop Fee:  APG members: $250 / Non-members: $275

Requirements: Digital Camera with flash sync inputs and ample media cards or storage to last the full weekend. A laptop with photo editing software is recommended, but not required.
