Jeffrey Richmond-Moll, Ph.D.

Curator of American Art
Georgia Museum of Art

We invite photographers from around the world to submit their most compelling and thought-provoking works for our upcoming exhibition, Identity. This exhibition seeks to celebrate the timeless art of portraiture and the profound stories that can be conveyed through the human figure. We are looking for images which explore the intricate and intimate connections that bind us as human beings. Through the lens of portraiture, this exhibition aims to unveil the unique narratives that are etched onto each individual’s face and body. The human form, whether presented in its unadorned simplicity or adorned with personal symbolism, serves as a canvas for emotions, experiences, and stories that transcend cultural boundaries.

Themes include but are not limited to:

  • Identity and self-expression
  • Emotion and psychology
  • Cultural diversity
  • Narrative portraiture

Twenty (20) images will be selected to be installed as unframed prints in our Maloof Gallery. Twenty (20) additional images will be chosen and will also be on view in the gallery via video installation and on our website.

The Maloof Gallery, named after long-time APG patron’s Ted and Gloria Maloof, supports multiple hybrid (digital and on the wall) and solo exhibitions each year.

Our esteemed juror will select one image as the “Juror’s Choice” and that individual will receive a complementary entry for the next Main Gallery call for entry. The total print (paper) size for selected awarded artwork will be limited to 22” on the longest side, or less, but no framing or matting will be required. These prints will be installed using magnets. We can also recommend a local printing service, if that is needed.
