This exhibition, juried by Kaitlin Booker, PhD, Beaumont and Nancy Newhall Curatorial Fellow, Museum of Modern Art, is an exploration of the ways in which we experience and capture the idea of joy through things that we see and do everyday. Perhaps it is an amazing view, a peaceful vista, a humorous street scene, or an extraordinary object or place that you cherish. Joy and the Everyday is defined as an emotion of great happiness caused by something exceptionally good or satisfying – a source that sparks pure delight. Let’s spread a little Joy!

Kaitlin Booher, PhD, is a photography curator and historian. She is currently the Beaumont and Nancy Newhall Curatorial Fellow at the Museum of Modern Art, where she has worked on a wide range of photography exhibitions and collection installations. Most recently, she assisted on the exhibition Life Dances On: Robert Frank in Dialogue. Booher previously worked at the National Gallery of Art and the Corcoran Gallery of Art, and organized or co-organized exhibitions including Mary Ellen Mark: Ward 81, Alex Prager: Face in the Crowd, and War Games: David Levinthal. She earned her PhD from Rutgers University, where she wrote a dissertation about the history of fashion photography in the United States between 1929 and 1968.
