Basic Web Design for Photographers
This is a beginning level workshop designed to help tech-shy photographers take control of their online presence. Whether you ae looking to migrate from a platform that is not serving you well, or you are starting from scratch. If you find the process overwhelming, this workshop is for you. In this workshop you will learn how to creating a clean, well-structured website that highlights your work, and is easy to maintain. You will be guided through the basics of creating a portfolio-based website using the Wix “drag and drop”, no-code platform. In the 4 workshop sessions you will learn how to modify a Wix template to create customized home, contact and about pages; as well as image galleries and a primary gallery catalog page. We will also discuss website design, menu and site structure, search engine optimization (SEO) basics within the Wix tools set, and moving or adding a personal url to your Wix site.
To get the most out of this workshop, participants should be prepared to come to the first class with a short bio and headshot, at least one edited portfolio (or body) of work, and any artist statements that accompany the work. If this is not possible, stock or place holding images and text can be used where necessary, as these can be easily updated at a later time.
