About Paris Photo
Paris Photo is the largest international art fair dedicated to the photographic medium and is held each November in the heart of Paris. Since 1997, the Fair’s mission is to promote and nurture photographic creation and the galleries, publishers, and artists at its source.
Paris Photo brings together up to 200 exhibitors from across the world, offering collectors and enthusiasts the most diverse and qualitative presentation of photography-driven projects today. Leading galleries showcase historical and contemporary artworks from modern masters to young talents. Specialized publishers and art book dealers present unique and rare editions, as well as book launches and signature sessions with many of today’s most renowned artists.
Paris Photo also provides visitors with first-hand insights and access to the art world. Programming includes curated exhibitions with renowned public and private institutions, awards, conversation cycles with curators, artists, collectors, and critics, and special events exploring the unique history of the medium, varying visions, practices, and emerging trends. In addition, the Fair’s the “In Paris during Paris Photo” program reunites a dense network of cultural institutions throughout Paris comprising some of the most historically rich photographic collections in the world.eler!
Bio: Chip Standifer
Chip Standifer is an artist, advocate, collector, and businessman based in Atlanta, Georgia. His collection includes lens and print based work from a broad spectrum of artists including Anne Brigman, Andy Warhol, Mildred Thompson, Howardena Pindell, Phillipe Halsman, Jeanne Wells, George Hurrell, Beth Lily, Emily Earl, Bill Yates, Virginia Twinam Smith, Dorothy O’Connor, Ed Ruscha, Shine Huang, Chip Simone, and Corrine Adams.
Standifer is the current Chairman of the Board at the Atlanta Photography Group and Gallery (APG) a non-profit, photographic, member-based art organization and art space. Under his direction APG has experienced triple-digit growth and expansion, as he has continuously advocated to create high profile opportunities for photo-based artists locally and worldwide.
APG’s mission is to provide opportunities for photographers to further their artistic development, while advancing and sustaining an inclusive, vibrant photographic community. APG promotes and supports the art of contemporary photography through a wide range of exhibitions, member events, educational programming, partnerships and community outreach that are overseen by Standifer and his Board of Directors.
As a well-travelled but odd and disconnected child, Chip was always a keen observer of people, places and situations. At the age of 12, he built a pinhole camera and discovered the delights of creating images, developing film, and the magic of photographic images emerging from the darkness. Today, when travelling the world for fast paced startups, Standifer enjoys the meditative benefits of noticing the beauty everyone else misses as they hustle by. His images have been juried into multiple shows at the Atlanta Photography Group, the Atlanta Airport, the John’s Creek Art Center, The Florida Museum of Photographic Arts, The SxSE Gallery, The Madison-Morgan Cultural Center and the Buckhead Library.
