Erik Scherb – From The Edge
Abstraction: Envisioning a Different World
For this year’s concept exhibition APG is partnered with the Atlanta Contemporary to to push the boundaries of photographic vision, and exhibit photographs that explore the idea of what’s real.
Artists were encouraged to use the Atlanta Contemporary’s exhibition New Worlds: Georgia Women to Watch as a springboard to create work that moves beyond traditional ways of seeing photography.
The work in this exhibition creates abstraction through the use of color, form, composition, distortion, shadow, light, manipulated materials (montage or composite), and photo editing software. The exhibition is an opportunity for artists to envision a different world using their own unique photographic perspective.

Whether we write to accompany our work in galleries or to promote our work through project proposals, grant applications, applications for residencies, and so on, it is imperative that we write clearly and compellingly about our work. In this workshop, instructor J. Russell Cambron will help participants to write effectively for artistic and professional publication. J. Russell Cambron is an Atlanta-based artist whose media include photography and writing. His work deals with themes of memory, identity, and beauty.

Knowing your value is critical for artistic survival. This means understanding the art market and your niche within that market. This 4-part workshop focuses on tools to help photographic artists define their niche and target audiences; as well as how to use that information to properly edition and price photographs for the fine art market. Rebecca Morgan is currently the Gallery Director for Arnika Dawkins Gallery. She has over a decade of experience in the commercial gallery world, and will share insights on market trends, pricing for targeted audiences, gallery structures and various pricing models.
